Howard Solomon

Managing Director, Ruder Finn West

A thirteen-year veteran of Ruder Finn, Howard Solomon was appointed managing director for Ruder Finn West in July, 2006. During his nearly three year tenure he has helped transform Ruder Finn’s West Coast presence into one of the fastest growing entities within the company network.

Solomon joined Ruder Finn/New York in 1995, moved to the company’s Chicago officer in early 1997 and was appointed managing director for Chicago July 1998.  Under his leadership, Ruder-Finn/Chicago also enjoyed tremendous growth, building strong expertise in the technology arena, with a particular emphasis on enterprise software.

From January 2004 through May of 2005 Solomon also served as managing director for Ruder Finn/Los Angeles. Under Solomon’s direction, the office experienced its strongest revenue growth since its inception.

Solomon, whose expertise lies in the intersection of technology and consumer marketing,  has helped develop the strategic direction for and managed numerous programs for several of the world’s most recognized technology and consumer brands, including, among others Sony Electronics, Mitsubishi Motors of North America, Microsoft, TiVo, Fosters Wine Estates, Coca-Cola, and Guinness Import Company among others. Solomon also has extensive experience providing messaging workshops and media and presentation skills training to corporate spokespersons and is widely considered a leading communications expert in the area of supply chain software.

Prior to joining Ruder Finn, Solomon was an account supervisor at Cohn & Wolfe and from 1988 through 1992, he was an executive at the Rowland Company.

Solomon is an accomplished ultra-distance runner and triathlete who completed the inaugural Ironman-USA, held in Lake Placid, New York. He is currently training for a 100 mile trail race.

Solomon earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan.  He resides with his wife and two children in Mill Valley, CA.
